Burning stuff!

Back about 1971, right after my first marriage, I burnt a pot pie. And was stupid enough to go into the office and tell what I had done. An older employee, Bill, just thought it was the funniest thing ever....that I couldn't even make a pot pie without burning it....that he dubbed me "the potpie kid." Sad to say, that nickname stuck with me for the next several years!

And then this week....I was unmounting some used rubber stamps that I picked up at the thrift store. Really tuff glue! I nuked them in the microwave for 10 seconds....nothing. 20 seconds, still nothing. 60 seconds....

well, yes, the wood started to catch on fire and even though that was 3 days ago....the whole house still has a lovely aroma of smoked wood. Not a bad smell....but I'm getting a bit bored with it!

So I thought I'd do my class sample using Ranger's burnt edge technique. Now remember, my base for all of these is just plain white cardstock. So ink, stamps, white pen and some embellishments from Stanislaus Imports:

Sort of looks like the flames started going in on the left hand side, doesn't it? And I know...you want a tutorial on how I did this, don't you? Well...not until after I get done teaching in San Diego! Make your plans to fly out for a couple of totally fun weeks in July!

Oh....I can honestly say I no longer burn pot pies......we eat out all the time!!! LOL!!!

Oh my gosh this made me laugh out loud. Sounds so severely like something I would do. That's what I do with dinner almost every night. Goodness.
