Clear glass totems….for any occasion!

I shared this in yesterday's blog, but wanted to do a few close-ups today, just so you can see the detail in the design!

The cake looks real, doesn't it?

Well, the cupcakes are!  But the cake isn't.

Colleen made this by painting hat boxes white.  Layering with silk flowers.  And fabric ribbon.

Yes, that is fabric you are looking at around the top edge.  Sure looks like icing, doesn't it?  Look at the bottom….a row of fabric on the table and a row of fabric ribbons above it.

She put in some added embellishments such as the little bride among the totems.

and did you notice the glass slipper at the bottom of this totem?

There are lighted glass swans on the table and a few other items such as these candle votes, stacked on top of inverted bowls.

In this final display, there are LED lights around the table, a crown under the top pedestal, swans in front of the cake….just so much fun!

Hope you have enjoyed seeing all of my sister's wonderful glass totems!

Glass totems by Colleen

A couple of posts back, I shared some of Colleen's work.  Here's more.  These are so much fun.  She's put individual LED lights in the base of most of her totems…just makes the glass sparkle.  You can use them to serve candy….

She has all kinds and sizes…

The bring so much light into a holiday display!

Personally, I think they make me want to just eat more!  Not what I need!!!

She made this display cake out of fabric and hat boxes…..used glass for the topper and the risers. I'll blog close-ups of it later on.  But just look at all the ways to serve your guests using her totems.

This one is decorated specifically for a wedding or party.    Yes, those beads are edible!

We set up this wine display just for fun...

Cheese, crackers, cookies and scarves….

Here's my little burlap deer in the midst of this display with fruit added….

And here are the totems serving cheese and crackers amidst the antlers and candles.  I think this is just the perfect winter display!

All of her totems are now for sale in our little store in the Marketplace Shops here in town.  But if there's something you'd like me to price, just let me know.  We are truly having fun being creative together!!!

My sister - the artist!

Don't you just wonder what happens when my sis and I get together to play?  Things explode?  Fireworks start up immediately?  Glitter rains from the heavens???  LOL!!!  No….but we do have fun. So I thought I'd showcase some of her recent creativity.  She's been making glass totems.  Taking old pieces of glass, drilling holes down the center, stacking glass and making totems.  But hers are a bit different from anything I've seen online or around here.  She's a little more creative than most!

So, do you see all the pieces?  The top pedestal dish, a small candy dish upside down, a tall skinny vase, a red bowl upside down and then a clear candy dish upside down.  Brilliant, huh?

Sometimes, there are hidden surprises inside the glass…..

these cute little mice and cheese wedge are in this clear glass cheese server.

It took 4 pieces of glass to make this totem.

Make a great salad server, or veggie tray, or candy dish.  Wouldn't it start a conversation at any gathering???

This one is designed to be a centerpiece for a baby shower.  I think it's just too cute!

The little bear comes out and this can be used as a candy dish, but I think the candy around the bear would be perfect.

I love the design in the glass.  And because I love turquoise - this is my favorite!

oh!  but this one is so frilly that I just love it, too.  I'd like to see this between 2 crystal candlesticks with a short candle on top of this one.  Can't you just imagine the possibilities???

All of these are for sale at "Moore Girls, more stuff" at the Marketplace Shops here in Canon City.  If you are a blog follower and interested in prices, just email me….we're happy to ship!!!

Of course, when she started making these, all I could think of were candle holders….so I'm getting ready to make a few of my own.  But I think I'll spray the glass and add color, add embellishments, add food…..who knows where I'll stop!!!

Day 1 - Moore Girls - more stuff!

It was a great first day!  We draped white sheer glitter net everywhere to cover the back "walls"

Then we started loading the shelves.  We still have much to do, but for 1 day - we already have over 600 items in our little space!

One of the services we offer will be preserving  and restoring handmade doilies, dresser scarves, linens and more.  So I was wondering why our grandma's had so many doilies everywhere and here's what I learned:
  • they hide the dust
  • someone spent hours making them
  • they can cover a spot or blemish on furniture
  • they can preserve surfaces
  • can be used as shelf liners
  • act as a barrier between food and a surface
  • prevent sliding
  • can be wrapped around food to keep it warm
  • provide a decorative touch
and my own reason:
  • because they remind us of Grandma Moore!  So we have loads of linens in our little space.

The wire dressforms are a perfect way to display the jewelry we've made:

Colleen is making these wonderful glass totems.  For serving candy, snacks....or just to look pretty.  Aren't they gorgeous?

We have a ways to go to get the showcase full, but I do think we have a pretty good start!  See that gekko?  Colleen made that out of art clay silver!

And are you ready for this?  I've made 120 cards this summer!  I had no idea there were that many!

Several hand-painted silk scarves and we will be adding more in the new future.  What colors/designs would you like to see?

In the lower left hand corner is an antique bedside commode - it even has a porcelain chamber pot!

We had such a fun day putting this together.....and tomorrow, even more stuff is going into our space.  I just love the look we have and the direction we are going in - a venue to showcase our art and make it available to others to purchase.  Just so much fun!!!
