Day 9 -Monday Morning fun

We got up "early" today - 8:30! Had breakfast and were down at the pool by 10 am. Really early for us. I find it amazing...we decided to sit at the adult pool today - no kids allowed - and we were there all alone. Memorial Day weekend - is no one traveling at all? How can we be in this stunningly gorgeous resort and have a whole pool to ourselves? We've been to Cabo, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta....all the places where you have to get up at 4 am, go down and mark our "spot" with a towel and a book in order to even get a place. But here, we could have as many chairs and umbrellas as we wanted. Just amazing!

And then someone asked me about the cabana boys here. Maybe that's the problem. There are a couple of very nice gals who are very attentive and bring us drinks and nachos and other munchies.....but it's sure not the same as the hunky cabana boys who waited on us a few years back in Cabo!

One of the nicer features of all the pools here is a tanning pool which is right in front of Kerry. About 3" of water and you can lay in that, keep cool, but get sun on the rest of your body.  Of course down here, they are promoting the sun.....I don't think they worry a whole lot about skin cancer.  After 9 days here covered in spf 50, you can barely tell I've been in the sun at all.  So I'm switching to 30 tomorrow!

Yep, we took  two umbrellas today!!!

Back to our room about 2 pm. Marisol is our concierge gal and I just love her to pieces. She knows everything. Where to shop - where to get what you need. So tomorrow is going to be another adventure day and maybe even a little snorkeling.  I fell asleep again from 4 - 7 pm and then it was off to dinner in the Patio.  Had one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life.  Such a nice, relaxed evening.   I may have to start afternoon naps when I get back home!

Day 8 - Sleep-in Sunday

Got up at 7 am and looked outside to see if it was still raining.  Nope, but it sure is overcast.  The employees are already out there cleaning out the pools, wiping down the plaza, putting out baskets with towels.  The beach looks spotless so I imagine they have already taken care of it!  Such a clean place....and so many employees working non-stop to keep it this way!

Decided to just go back to bed.  After all, what are vacations for?  I think Kerry has learned the true meaning of rest and relaxation!  This is a vacation!  A trip is when you go visit relatives, or friends, or go tour a new place.  A vacation - when you vacate your life!!!

We ordered room service at 11 am so that should tell you where today is going....nowhere!!!  About 3 pm, we ventured down to one of the restaurants for lunch.  Thank goodness they are open almost 24/7 here!

I thought I should do the pronounciation of this place - Huatulco.  It sounds like Waa-tool-ko with a long o at the end.  In the state of Oxaca which is waa-sock-ah.  Accent on the second syllable in both words.  Not something you can say real fast!  LOL!!!

I spent some time today learning the most recent lessons from Scrappers Guide, a digital scrapbooking site that I subscribe too....and never have time to play with.  So this is what I came up with today for digital layouts!

Today was a day to teach myself a little more in photoshop and digital scrapbooking, working with very old (ok, yes, the word is VINTAGE) photos of myself and Kerry.

to see this as a larger image, just click here and then click the magnification button.

And in this one, I learned a new way of erasing what's not needed inside a frame.

What a relaxing, fun day....and I still created a little!

Day 7 - Shopping Saturday

How perfect to start you day at 10 am having breakfast next to the ocean! This really is perfect!

Back home, I'm splitting out my Basement Babes into 3 play days: Technique Thursday, Fun Friday and Shopping Saturday. I had to get a head start and start "Shopping Saturday" here! LOL!!! I'm starting to really miss playing, so I thought today I'd go looking for new things to play with.

The other day, they stuffed a bag with crepe paper instead of tissue paper....so they must sell crepe paper somewhere here. And I see all these metal repousse items....so it must be here as well! I just love it when I start out with a "mission" - a purpose - something I have to go find!

We grabbed a cab over to La Cruicita.  Now remember, we've been here before.  So we already have taken the tour of the village and been inside the church....but I thought another photo was needed since it is the largest church in the area and one of the oldest buildings.

This is the town square.  Across from here is the little place where Kerry likes the tortilla soup.  We went there and it was still the same....and he claimed the soup was just as good as ever.  So after 2 years, not much has changed at all!

Behind the restaurant is an indoor market. Soooo hot.  You can barely breathe.  I didn't last too long, and I didn't find crepe paper.  But I did find starfish in all sizes and dried sea horses.  I believe they are illegal to harvest in the US, but I like to use them to make molds for my projects.  I have a rather large one at home and was able to find 7 very small ones today.  And a bag of seashells to airbrush and add glitter to when I get back!  So I think it was a successful day!  I came back to the room and ordered crepe paper online!  LOL!!!

About 5 pm it started to rain.  And did it ever rain.  The sky just opened up and dumped buckets!  It was interesting to go eat in the Japanese bar as it's an open bar and the front 3 seats on each table were out in the rain.  We sat in the back.  It felt like eating on your front porch with the rain pouring down.  I didn't mind at all until we saw lightening hit nearby and the thunder clap was immediate and deafening!

The tile floors were like ice so of course, Kerry was acting like he was ice skating on the way back to the room while I was clinging on to the rails for dear life!  Stepped out of the elevator on the 6th floor, not even considering there might be water in that location, and nearly fell to my death in 1/2" of water...it was so slick.  Needless to say, I then "crawled" back to our room and we didn't leave again.  It was still raining at midnight.  This whole area should be lush in a couple of days after this.  I think tomorrow may be another vegge out day in the room as they will be cleaning out the pools for quite some time!

Day 6 - Rain, rain, go away......

We slept in til 10, got to breakfast by 11 and were at the pool by noon. In and out of the water til about 2 pm when the rain came. OK, it can pour down rain here and it's still nice enough to be out walking in it. But mostly, it's just a light constant sprinkle here. We decided to walk across the street to a restaurant we tried out last time. Sort of an outdoor hamburger grill. Good food!  Decided to have a simple quesadillo today. Don't you just love the bright colors?

Next door, Gregory was working at his loom.  He was pretty amazing to watch. He used his hands and his feet and shot the spindles through it like lightening bolts.  So I had to get some photos and talk to him.

He showed me photos of his mom who cards the wool and dies it, then he told me about all the local berries and roots they still use for dies.  Again...amazing differences between the old and the new (his photos were completely professional).

The loom really doesn't look all that old, but you can tell from how it is assembled that it is.  I think the kid just keeps it in mint condition.

And then I saw "it"....hanging up high....and I just fell in love with it!

Gregory took it down and assured me that he had made it himself.  Well, it's a good story to say the least!  And I was truly impressed with his skills at the loom.  So...I'll just have to make room in my bags to get this one home!

And then I'll have to find a place on the wall for it because Kerry says no one is going to be walking on this!  I think he was just as impressed as I was!

So we had another afternoon of rest in our room while the rains continued to fall outside.  Sort of nice! I got to skype with Linda and Susan this afternoon - how cool to be so far from home, yet so close!!!

I looked out the window about 6 pm and saw them setting up tables on the plaza. Checked our itinerary for the day and nothing. So we headed down to see what was going on. I guess it was Mexican fiesta night or something. Dancers were there serving shots of tequilla, Mariachis were out playing. Lovely covered tables and padded chairs. We took a seat and it wasn't long before I realized (felt) that the rain had soaked our seats and when we stood up - yep - we had wet rear ends! But so did everyone else and I don't think anyone gave it a second thought once we all realized we were in this together.

We had a wonderful dinner. There is just something about eating outside next to the ocean that can put everyone in a great mood! And we did a little browsing with the vendors after dinner. You used to be able to buy a sterling silver beaded necklace down here for $20. The current price is $130. Quite an increase in the last 5 years! But they were nice to look at!

The girls are standing next to huge shot glasses filled with red and green tequilla...and the table is covered with small shot glasses they were handing out.

We think this guy has had a few   too many already!!!  Someone told him he must have to stay drunk to wear those pants!  Made me laugh!!!  He replied that tequilla is "mexican water"!

We're half way through our stay today - best vacation ever!

Day 5 - back to having fun!!!

Kerry woke up in excellent spirits today - totally recovered and ready to go. He wanted to rent a moped and go snorkeling, get cerviche, go shopping.....and I just put my foot down and said NO!!! After all, we are here til the 29th and have plenty of time to do everything, so we sure don't need to do it all today!!!

We caught a cab over to the marina and found our little restaurant - it's called JESS Y MAR. We were here in 2004, 2007 and now 2009....and it's still the same great place!

The world's best shrimp cerveche and they did not disappoint me today. You can sit outside by the shore under a cabana and they run your drinks and cerveche to you. Nice gentle breeze and we got to watch several others snorkeling and swimming in the bay. And yes, I had a pina colada at 10:30 am!!! Well, afterall, I am on vacation!

From there, we meandered over to our favorite jewelry shop in town. It's our 3rd trip here and our 3rd trip to this store. Two years ago, Kerry bought me the most beautiful necklace ever. It is designer made with turquoise and blood jasper hand carved Indian symbol in the center that looks like a rather large horn's tooth. I'll have to photo it when we get home.

Today, he found a bracelet and earrings to match the necklace. The designers are known as simply Carlos Albert, but they are 2 different guys who work together.

I love the little market square here with an arbor to walk under. The perfect place where Kerry can sit while I do a little more shopping!

And then we went back to the hotel and just laid by the pool....until the clouds came in and it started to sprinkle.

Had a nice long siesta and then it was off to the Oceana for dinner.....seafood by the seashore. It just doesn't get much better than that at all. Not sure what I ate....shrimp stuffed something...but it was delicious! By now, we have seen "our" waiter often enough that he knows who we are and tells us where he will be working the next meal. I must get a photo of him this week!

Kerry and I agreed that this is the perfect resort...the perfect place to get a much needed rest.

Day 4 - total rest

Kerry was up sick all night long.  I am learning a lot about angina.  After an attack, it is apparently normal to have nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  I put in my ear plugs and slept til 10 am.   And then he slept most of the day, so I read more and started to teach myself Illustrator (software) and work on rubber stamp designs.

I did leave the room to go find some lunch and take a few photos of flowers on the property.  Then I had some plain bread and water sent up to him (I'll bet they think we are jail bait!  LOL!)

By evening, he was so much better. We actually went to the grill for dinner, he kept it light, but kept it down.  While I realize how serious this could be....I can't force him to seek medical attention. All I can do is pray that Jehovah's will be done. Hopefully he will get a good night's sleep tonight.

It's interesting to me the things you find when traveling.  Yesterday on our excursion,  the tour guide told us that speedbumps in gravel roads (and there are tons down here) are called "silent police".  I had to laugh.  You can't possibly travel at any speed at all on the winding gravel roads up through the mountains....but there are speed bumps every mile!

And then, there is a tiny village of 3 - 4 houses every 5 miles.  And each village has a catholic church (one small room),  a clinic and a one room school.  Kids walk up to 2 hours to get to junior school as they are much farther apart....only 1 in the 1 1/2 hour drive we had yesterday.

At the coffee plantation, they served us cookies.  In the shape of a Star of David.  The owner's parents came from Germany.  They are catholic now.  Interesting how some traditions get merged with others.

The van we rode in is not 4x4.....but it could well be.  Did so well on all the mountain roads.

And while they drive a van that nice, they cooked us lunch on a wood burning stove:

While some things seem to be quite modern, others are definitely 3rd world.  I can't fathom cooking on a wood burning stove in this heat, but it didn't seem to bother them.

And this is what a "taxi" looks like.  It runs up and down the mountain roads and you ride in the back of it.  Not exactly air conditioned!

Some of the taxis were much smaller than this one.  Think I much preferred our van!

And finally, I have  the worst bad hair ever here!  With this humidity, I've grown a tree on my head!  LOL!!!  I'm using no-frizz shampoo and conditioner....but it just keeps growing!!!

Day 3 - is he going to die down here????

I guess everyone needs a good scare and I got mine today!!! But it really made me stop and think about what you would do if the person you are traveling with died in a foreign country. OK, Kerry is just fine. But we think he had an angina attack today. However, when it happened, he thought he was going to die and we were in the middle of the jungle, about 1 1/2 hours inland, and absolutely nowhere close to any type of medical services.

I have often asked myself (and mom) how you now when to stop doing certain things as you age. Mom says, "you will just know". And oh my, is she ever brilliant or what? After today, we will no longer be booking any excursion that includes walking of any type at all. Kerry is past that point.

This is a tour that I wanted to do the last time we were here. I've heard about the Copalita river and wanted to go see it. Well, we got to cross it, but this is the very beginning of their rainy season and it's pretty low....and very muddy at the moment.

We stopped at a coffee plantation and while neither of us drink the stuff, it's good to know about it.  We saw a gas powered roaster in action.  I have to say, the smell was wonderful!  Elaine & Mom, we're bringing coffee beans back to you guys!  If the taste is half as good as the smell, you will like it!  The coffee plants are in full bloom right now, but I didn't get any shots as it was too dark - we were in the middle of a jungle.

We got to our destination and it was a 15 minute hike to the waterfalls.  I was happily shooting photos - the water is absolutely stunning at this point and lots of little falls and ripples along our path.

But we were down on the bottom with absolutely no air circulating anywhere.  And about 98 degrees with 98% humidity.  Pretty stuffy.  The people ahead of us were walking at a pretty fast pace and Kerry was trying to keep up with them.  Finally he had to rest.  And that was when he realized he wasn't getting any air.

Of course, he didn't tell me that then!  Duh!  He was determined that I go ahead with the group and get photos and movies of the waterfalls.  And he promised to just sit there and wait for me.  So I ran.  Yeah, not so bright am I?  Running with no oxygen, in that heat with that humidity.....but I did it!  Up and down hills and steps built out of dirt and roots, I caught up with the group and made it to the falls.  They were stunning!

You need to realize that I've taken about 400 shots so far.  I will never download them all - they just get burnt to a DVD taht will get added to the journal that I create with these notes.  We can conert the photos to a slide show and enjoy them any time we want to.  So easy with an apple!  :o)

Anyway, I got the photos and then RAN back to where Kerry was supposed to be and he wasn't there.  So I just kept on going and finally caught up with him.  He was, once again, walking too fast for those conditions so I got in front of him and made him slow way down.  And we stopped about every 5 minutes for a break.  Absolutely sweltering and I really didn't need to even look at him to wonder if he was going to make it or not...I could hear it in his breathing.

We finally made it back up to the top and parked on a log bench.  That's when he told me he thought he had had an angina attack and was going to go see the doctor as soon as we get home.

We still had a 1 1/2 hour drive back to town after we got out of the river bottom.  And about 10 minutes into the ride, it started pouring down rain.  Flash flooding all over the place.  Our tour guide did a fabulous job of driving us back....but once again, those thoughts kept running through my head.  What would you do if there was an emergency in a place like this?

I want him to go see a doctor here.  They have excellent medical care in Huatlco....but he says no, he will wait til we get home.  I immediately cancel everything in my mind that I want to do on this trip and have decided that we are going to do absolutely nothing except lay by the pool and vegge out in our room.

OK, I HAVE to take a cab to the marina and get my shrimp cerveche!  But we will not be doing the other ATV ride, nor will we be renting mopeds....or even going snorkeling unless it's right in front of our hotel.

We are in the room for the night and ordering room service.  I swear, I think I'm going to be the one who has a heart attack down here....I don't need this much "excitement"!    So I've informed Kerry that he can just knock it off for the rest of our trip!  And he says to me, "you're the one who wanted to go see the waterfalls!!!"

Why is he always right???   LOL!

Huatulco, Day 2, finding our way around

Dreams Huatulco. That's the name of the place we are staying. And that's a view from our 6th floor balcony. I took 4 separate photos and then stitched them all together. Pretty cool!!!

So first, let me say, the beds here are wonderful. I fell right to sleep and did not wake up til 9:15. We were supposed to meet with our travel/tour guide at 9:30 am, so I sort of just jumped into some clothes and ran to the lounge. Took Kerry a full 20 minutes to catch up to me! By then, the rep had gone over all the available tours with me and I had picked out what I want to do. Since this is our 3rd time here...I was looking for something new and/or different.

We're going to take a trip to some waterfalls and tour a coffee plantation. Now, neither of us drink coffee, but I thought it was worth it to get to see the waterfalls.

There's a different ATV tour from the one we took last time where you get to go to the east of town, so we're thinking about that one and will see how Kerry's back does.

Sort of sad, but I think we have exhausted the entire supply of entertainment for this village with 3 trips here! Oh dear, what will we do? Sleep by the sea? How sad!

We started out next with breakfast at the World Cafe. Has a pond and fountain in the center of the restaurant so your background noise is just water falling. Very pleasant.

Walked around a little bit to find all the pools - there are 5 of them here. Changed into our swimsuits and took off in search of a good spot with lots of shade. I spent the greater part of the day reading a new book. It's been awhile since I had the time to indulge in a good novel.

I thought for a moment that I should write like Diane Lane does in the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" where she says she tasted the color of purple when she bit into a grape......ok, not going to happen. But if I could describe my feelings about this place in her style of writing, it would go something like this:

I was floating listlessly in the tepid waters of the pool with the sound of waves beating the seashore in the background. As I looked out across the small quiet bay completely protected by the surrounding hills and cliffs, I saw a sailboat tumble to it's side in the breeze. Someone from shore swam out to help set it upright as the 2 boys at the helm were laughing at their own antics. Kerry was resting on the side of the pool, feet dangling over the rim, waving them slowly as he made a bit of water motion that massaged his legs.....

ok, not my style of writing, but it will remind me of the afternoon we shared here at Dreams where customer service is alive and thriving! It's an all inclusive resort....so they just keep bringing you one pina colada after another and of course I'm not at all used to drinking so started asking for water after the second drink! Room service here is exceptional. We have our own private lounge on this floor and the moment you enter, someone is there to assist you. Makes you wonder if the door is hooked up to an alarm that lets them know we are there and they just come running? Although she didn't seem to be a bit out of breath! Our mini bar gets restocked 2-3 times a day.

here's that toppled over sailboat...

I finished reading an entire book in 2 days. Some sort of record for me! We are extremely close to the equator here and are using a SPF 50 sunblock and still got a bit pink even under the shade, so will slather the stuff on tomorrow! It's been such a relaxing day today. The Sushi place was closed, so dinner again at the Patio. Tonight, we tried a shrimp dish which was excellent...shrimp in a light tomato based sauce over rice. Then back to our room and more reading. I know, it sounds a bit dull, but I am already feeling rested and ready for tomorrow's adventure!

Getting to Huatlco - Day 1

Every single time we have traveled in the past, I have decorated a journal to take with me and record my adventures. This trip....it just didn't get done. So I'm going to use my blog to record my travels, then print it out and add it to a journal when I get home.

So first....getting to Huatulco.

I should have known that when the shuttle driver showed up 25 minutes early at FOUR THIRTY AM.....it would be a fun ride to the airport! Fortunately, we were up and almost ready. We hustled everything into the van and then he explained that he had been scheduled to pick up at 2 locations at the exact same time. Not good!

His GPS started to take him out the back way of our addition and we immediately told him to turn that thing around as you could spend 30 minutes weaving around back roads, over speed bumps and hitting a stop sign a block! (OK, it's really almost that bad!!!) He got back to the highway and headed towards the other location. Pulled into their neighborhood, pulled up the the "address", but there was no matching house number. Up and down the street he drove. Still pitch black outside. I'm thinking to myself, "we have a bit of a problem here because there are no lights on inside any of these houses and whoever is leaving town is going to miss this van!"

Kerry gets out his iphone and asks for the address, maps it and tells the drive we are on the "drive" and probably need to be on the "street". Kerry then commences to tell the driver where to go, where to turn and sure enough, we arrive at a home with 5 people in the driveway ready to go!

Pretty funny when an iphone tops a GPS at locating a house!!!

Got thru security at DIA in flying time. I mean seriously, who is there at 5:30 am? LOL!!!

I truly do not like to fly. No one would ever believe that as much as I hop an airplane to San Diego and other places....but it is my worst fear. I try to convince myself that the more I fly, the easier it will be. Absolutely NOT true!!! For this trip, we flew from DIA to Dallas, to Mexico City, and then to Huatulco, changing planes at every place. Several years ago after literally running through the airport in Amsterdam, I made a resolution that I will never again run through an airport.

So just to keep it clear....speedwalking is NOT running!

Our flight in to Dallas was perfect. I called my friend, Torrey, to let her know I was going to be close by and I literally felt her presence when we landed!!! But barely enough time to make the connecting flight and no, no speedwalking or running there. But what a massive airport with a really long tram line to get to the next terminal. Beyone me why if you are flying the same airlines they change you to a completely different terminal on a 1 1/2 hour layover. It's a plot to consume our time and get us to walk past more "stores" that beckon us to come buy?

The flight to Mexico City was perfect. Kerry had a window seat, I was in the middle. Plane was full. I slept!

Flying into the city, I was busy looking out the window. Wow! Beyond HUGE! Kerry thinks maybe 30M residents? Makes Denver look like a dot! Buildings everywhere. High rises on the tops of hills. Interesting. Looked a lot like flying out of Cairo....everything totally crammed close together, no trees, no parks, except there were lots of hills in and around Mexico City. Cairo was flat. But it gave me the very same impression and I've decided I have no interest in ever going to Mexico City.

Got off the plane and of course, it's all in Spanish. Now, we both know enough to read and get by. But there our connecting flight was nowhere to be found. So I went to an information booth where the guy told me we had to get out bags and go thru immigration. I was a bit confused as they had told us in Denver that our bags were checked through to Huatulco, but I also know that you must go through immigrations when you set foot in another country.

So we followed his directions and proceeded through immigrations. Line was forever long and once again, we only had 1 1/2 hours between flights. I was just a tad nervous at this point. Get through immigrations and go to get our bags and they are NOT there. I'm really trying not to panic. I know I don't want to get stuck in Mexico City overnight. Kerry finds a nice airline representative for Mexicana who pages someone else and then informs us that our bags are going direct to Huatulco and we need to walk all the way to the other end....as far as we can see, then take the esculator up and then walk all the way back to the far, far, far, end of that corridor and we are looking for gate 15.

Being a diabetic, Kerry has problems walking long distances and I think this was at least 1 1/2 miles, maybe longer. There are no trams in Mexico City and it is a huge airport. There are moving walkways and he needed to stop and rest at each one. I'm really sort of starting to panic at this point. But since I can't pick him up and carry him.......HA!

We finally get to the end of the upper walkway and a gal stops us and wants to know where are bags are???? I explained that they were checked to Huatulco and she asks to see the baggage claim tickets. Do you think I can find them? Of course not! But finally, I dig them out and she has to write down each and every claim check number for each bag.....could she write any slower??? We did manage to get past that point and by then, I "think" we are there....but oh! no! It's still so far down the course that you can't even see the gate number, so at this point, yes, I think you could classify us as speed-walkers!

We got to the gate just as they were boarding, not a minute too soon! Out of breath, sweating, exhausted...but hey! we made it! A little puddle jumper with a 55 minute flight and we set down at the airport in Huatulco. I'm so happy that our long day of travel is over. We started at 4:30 am and it's not 7:30 Denver time. 15 hours of travel. Of course we are both exhausted....but just laughing at the day. I think we were laughing because we were so tired. We followed the stewardess into the airport terminal. They had us fill out yet another form about flu symptoms (really didn't see anyone wearing a mask) and get to the checkpoint and the girl won't let us through. She says, "is that your luggage?" no, it's our carry on and she points to where we have to go wait for our bags. Which don't show up.

I just wanted to cry! We wait until absolutely everyone has left the airport (tiny little airport) and finally a guard comes up and asks us if he can help. We tell him we are waiting for our bags (the plane is still outside) and he asks where they are coming from. Then he points and says we are in the wrong terminal (ok, honestly, I did follow the stewardess!!) He walks us to a different terminal and thank goodness....our bags are all there waiting for us. Yeah!

At this point, my nerves are frayed and I'm thinking my luck has got to change. And it did! The travel agent was waiting for us right outside the entrance and put our bags in his van and brought us right to the hotel! Glory be! We are here!!!

Until we go to check in and the reservations agent shows that we are leaving the same day we arrive! And he did not believe me when I tell him we are staying for 12 nights. No, we are checking out the same day we are leaving! I started laughing! Sorry, but after the day of travel we had just had.....there is no way I was leaving the day I checked in! We finally got that all straightened out (good thing I print every single email, huh?) and they escorted us to our room.

Now, I have to write a little bit about the mattress problem. We were here 2 years ago at a different resort called the Camino Real and our beds were brick hard. I had contemplated bringing my blow up camping mattress with me as I am fully aware you can't buy a mattress of any type in this little village - you can't even find a blow up air mattress for the beach! But I opted to leave my mattress at home, determined if the beds were like brick I would complain until they fixed it this time. Last time, I ended up bringing in seat cushions from the lounge chairs and sleeping on them at night while they slid apart!!!

I am happy to report that our beds were absolutely wonderful!!! Pillow top mattresses in fact! I guess I had been more worried about sleeping on a brick that I wanted to admit to myself. Sometimes, things just work themselves out.

We unpacked, then went to The Patio for a late dinner. Very good shrimp cerviche! My favorite thing to have when we are here.

Tomorrow, I'll report on our first day at the resort. We have opted for the concierge package....and we are both connected to wireless internet in our rooms....another first ever for us! For now, it's off to bed for me!!!

From the air looking down at Huatulco:

This was the view flying in to Mexico City.....houses as close as could possibly be.....
The view from our balcony at dusk
Nice soft pillowtop matresses!!!
