Painting with mom

On Tuesday, 8 days after her stroke, mom painted this:

On Thursday she painted this one:

She is working hard at getting herself even stronger than she was before her stroke. It's really hard to believe the doctor called this a "major" stroke. And equally as hard to believe that 10 days ago she could not move her hand at all.

We went back this morning and sat at the craft tables here at her retirement center and lots of folks stopped by to say "hi" and see how she was doing. I decided to paint my "passover" feelings - 7 colorful stars, 7 buildings on the hill in Jerusalem, the poles (you can call them crosses if you want)....so much symbolism in my head and it just flowed onto the canvas this morning.

Gladys, who turned 93 yesterday (Happy Birthday Gladys!) decided that she just loved this painting, so I am going to try and replicate it tomorrow. I wonder how close I can get to an exact duplicate....but at the same time my brain is telling me to just let what's inside flow out, so who knows what we will paint tomorrow!

It is just good to paint with mom!
