Christmas card kit

I am so truly blessed!  I now live in a tiny little place that has a great stamp store and a great scrapbook store.  I am getting dizzy from all the classes they offer!!!  Are you jealous yet!!!

I took this class last week at the scrapbook store.  It was labeled "Christmas cards".  I do not celebrate Christmas.  So I gave myself a challenge to see what I could do with this card kit from Hot Off the Press.  Now, the only students were myself, my sister, and my good friend, Kathy, who came to visit for a week.  Well, needless to stay, the instructor really, truly tried to teach, but she lost complete control after about 5 minutes and decided to just sit back and watch us do our own thing.  I swear, this is the most fun class I've taken ever!!!

Here are the cards I created.  The package cover is below (well, except for the tiny gingerbread that I cut out of the packaging to use inside the door of the gingerbread house.

All tags
The corners are a snowflake cut in quarters
The flower petals are the insides of the snowflake above
Cut words out of tags and inked to make the phrase I wanted
Used a stamp on the tag (the kit did say you could use your own sayings on the tags!)

Used 2 banners to make the Star of David
109 pieces in this kit - tons left over
The big snowflake as shown on the kit packaging

So, I think a lot of manufacturers miss the boat with holiday stuff.  There are more and more of us who are opting out of holidays.....or do not celebrate because of our religious beliefs.  Just think how much more they could sell if their marketing departments would show creative alternative ways to use their product.  At least this kit did not have Santas all over the paper.....but if it had, I would have just inked the paper and die cut it into flourishes.  Fun stuff!!!  All 6 cards came from this single kit.

How fun to have so many classes just blocks from my house!!!

Zoo overalls

Here's the second store sample I did this past weekend.  Not near as thick as the dress, and I added more photo holders.  I wanted to show how different you could make these look.  Used Vintage Photo Distress Inks on this one.  Did not distress the girl.  Again, can be seen at Design UR Memories

Acrylic cover has just the 2 yellow monkeys on it
Paper overalls.  Used a Ranger white pen to outline against the dark background and add the stitching. Used my "make your own basic gray paper" for the shorts.  Sort of fun showing the other croppers how to do this.

The back side of the overalls with a photo holder
Next is an acrylic shirt that only has the 2 tigers, 2 strips of ribbon and a bottom painted to look like grass
this is the back side of the acrylic over the inside of the front overalls
 paper shirt
The back of the paper shirt has a pocket with 2 tags inside it.  Showed the croppers these techniques.  The tag on the left includes the embellishment that I made out of the ugliest piece of paper we could find.  Turned out gorgeous!
By now, I was getting tired and lazy.  Just a clear acrylic over paper
Large photo frame on the back of this shirt
Used acrylic paint on this acrylic shirt to frame the next shirt
This is the shirt with a tearbear in a pocket.
The back of the shirt with another photo place
And on the last page, I made suspenders on the acrylic and left the overalls blank.  Just use your imagination!!!
Yep, after cropping til almost midnight on Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, I came home and slept 10 1/2 hours!!!  Probably won't do that again!!!  But it sure was fun!!!

Cutest store sample ever!

I spent the weekend at a scrapbook crop at our local scrapbook store and made a couple of samples for the store.  You can see them in person at Design U'R Memories

Clear acrylic album, pages are dresses or aprons.  Click on each photo to make it larger.
Some are fronts, others are backs and these are not necessarily in the order they are in the book.  But I still think each page came out cute

Then flip the book over and this is the acrylic on the back page

Wrote a short marketing poem for the store

Back of one of the above pages.  Loved making the tear bears!
Tomorrow night I will blog the boys overall acrylic book that I barely finished as well!

It's always fun to spend a weekend playing!!!
