The simple beauty of a single rose

Vicki has the most amazing roses I have ever seen, so we did a little nighttime photography at her house. I love them all....even the one with all the bugs on it! What's your favorite one?

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

It takes 2 people to do this. One person has to carry a spotlight and showcase the flower. The other person aims the camera right on the flower. Use regular daytime settings, close-up macro and full flash. Turn the flashlight off and take the photo.

In order to get the rose in the background to show up...just set up the front flower, then have your assistant keep the flashlight on the background flower while you snap the shot.

Pretty cool photography!

I'm leaning towards # 6 and then # 1. But then I do like # 7. I forgot to mention that these are raw photos. I didn't use photoshop at all on any of them. Truly fun to do!!! But you also have to have a "vicki" in your life.....someone who actually grows roses! LOL!!!

I love them all....but #9 just takes my breath away!

I need a Vicki...I have a Pat -- but she grows herbs....wonder what some herbal photography would produce? Hmmmmmm....roses are prettier -- but one has to work with what one has available!

Thanks for sharing the photography technique -- I am going to try it -- roses or no roses!
