MCWC Photography Seminar Powerpoint

As promised, here is the powerpoint from the conference. Just click on the "play" button and then if you get to a screen you want to look at longer, hit the pause button. I had to remove all of the animations and the slide show at the end to get the file size small enough to post it here!

If you want the PDF file of this, just email me.

Art Clay Silver- what is it?

My definition: It's wonderful!!!

The official definition: It looks like a moist lump of clay. It's made up of silver particles, organic binders and water. You can mold it and shape it into anything you want. Dry it. Fire it. The binder burns off and the end result is .999 pure silver.

It looks just like sterling silver, but it won't turn your skin green as there are no alloys in it. Sterling is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other matals. Art Clay Silver is 99.9% silver.

And then they came up with a paper type Art Clay Silver. You can diecut it. Emboss it. Metal Repousse it, Origami it.....I just love it!!! And that's what I'm teaching at the Metal Clay World Conference this summer.

Today, if you happened to skype me (an you know who you are) this is what you were greeted with!!!

LOLOL!!! When I work with mini punches and diecuts, I put on my overheads so I can see. I not only have 2 eyes....I think I have about 8 eyes with these on. But let me tell you, I can see the tiniest piece of lint and fuzz with them on!

I have been diecutting like a mad woman!  I cut the bigger pieces first, then punch the scraps.  I definitely need more punches.  The heart is the smallest that I have.  It's about 1/16" across.  Most of the larger ones are under 1" wide.

All the left over paper gets tossed into my cup, mixed with water and ground into paste

That paste gets put into molds.....and I get even more silver to play with!

I'm going to teach you how to do all this in our pre-conference workshop.  I think you will be amazed.  I didn't even use 3 whole sheets of paper type and I got all this!  So just a little bit goes a real long way!!!

If you can't make it to the conference, I hope to have a video available in August!

10 down, 40 to go!

I am NUTS! LOL!!! I'm doing a charm swap at the Metal Clay World Conference. 10 done, 40 more to go!

But these are not just any old charm.....the silver is .999 fine silver.....

 the wire is sterling silver.....

Pure Swarovsky beads on each one.....

And the stone is either turquoise or jasper....

And they are soooooo tiny!  smaller than a dime!!!  My fingers will be numb after 50 of these!!!

oh, can you tell?  Each and every one of them is going to be different!  Stay tuned.....more tomorrow!!!

Metal Clay World Conference 2009!!!

I'm Indiana bound in a year! Coming "home". Colleen is coming with me! This is just going to be so much fun - and a whole year to plan it all out!

First, we'll head to Chicago for the conference. I'm teaching and she's assisting. We'll be showing everyone how to diecut and emboss paper type art clay silver or PMC and how to quill with paper type. We are busy designing samples just for the convention. It is going to be so much fun!!!

Then, we'll head over to Indiana. Not real sure of our agenda yet except next year is my 40 year class reunion, so of course, I'm trying to get them to schedule the reunion for the last weekend in July! If nothing else, I will at least get my grade school chums together for dinner at Jim Dandy's!

The following Sunday will be my dad's family reunion. The 56th year they have done this! So we'll head down to Turkey Run State Park for the first weekend in August. I haven't been in about 6 years, so it will be great fun to see everyone again. I know - why do I wait so long between trips "home"? Well, I left Indiana in 1974. It's been 34 years. My gosh! How time flies!!! Sort of surprising that my aunts, uncles and cousins still remember my name! LOL!

Wonder if I can get in a touch of genealogy? Interview a few of the older generation that still live where I grew up? A trip to Mooresville to see where the House family settled (mom's line). Oh - so much to plan! The year is just going to fly! Hmmm.....do you think we should plan a scrapbook retreat at my Aunt's B&B in Syracuse? All this thinking - I need a nap!!! LOLOL!!!
